SOCS Executive Council

2019-2020

The Executive Council is elected by the members of the Society, trusted to ensure the continuity, proliferation, and advancement of SOCS as a whole. We represent and advocate on behalf of off-campus students. Don't hesitate to contact us - we are happy to help and listen!

Jeremy Sewnauth

President

Hey all, My name is Jeremy Sewnauth and I am excited to be your newly elected President for the 2019/2020 year. A few little facts about me is that I was born and raised in Brampton (mans who know, know) and I am in my fourth year of Honours Life Science, currently taking part in CityLAB 2019. This year marks my third year with SOCS and what a great year it has been so far.

This upcoming year I aim to host many events to bring in people from all years of McMaster and break the stigma that “SOCS is only a first-year thing” because it’s here for everyone. I hope to make this year one of the prosperous years yet. Do not hesitate to contact me if you have questions/concerns/ideas. Can’t wait to meet you all.

Vice-President Administration

Hello! My name is Victoria Caravaggio and I am delighted to be your Vice-President Administration for the 2019-2020 year! I am in my fourth year in a Combined Honours in Political Science & History. I was born and raised in Dundas, and commute every day through public transit - I relate to that HSR struggle. On my spare time I read, explore the outdoors, watch films, and enjoy theatre! Catch me drinking tea talking about my thesis or my puppy, Molly!

I have been part of SOCS since my first day of Welcome Week in first-year and now taking on an executive role into my fourth year. SOCS has been a meaningful part of my university experience and I am so excited to support you all through this role!

Feel free to reach out and ask me anything. I'm here to help!

Troy Umolac

Vice-President Finance

Hey everybody! I’m Troy and I’m your VP Finance for the 2019/20 school year! I’m in my fourth year of Electrical and Biomedical Engineering but I’m currently on a 16-month co-op.

I’ve lived in Hamilton my entire life and have commuted to Mac since my first-year - I totally understand how annoying both Lot M and the HSR can be.

I hope that, collectively, we are able to make this one of the best years for the Society of Off-Campus students.

Hi everyone, My name is Vivienne and I am excited to be your VP Social for the 2019/2020 academic year. I am a fourth-year Honours Life Sciences - Origins of Disease student pursuing a minor in Biochemistry. I am originally from Oakville, but recently moved to Hamilton with my family, so I commute to McMaster every day. You'll either find me in the SOCS office (MUSC B112) or Chatime as soon as those lines die down. In my spare time, I like to go out with friends, but I also enjoy a stay at home day cooking and experimenting with new recipes.

I have been involved with the Off-Campus community since I first attended SOCS formal as a freshman, to now organizing SOCS events in my final year. I am grateful for the meaningful friendships I have made through SOCS and hope to build this sense of community amongst all off-campus students. Feel free to message me if you have any questions or ideas regarding future events, or if you simply want to hang! Hope to see you all at SOCS events!

My name is Sara Ouarzazi and I am your VP Education and Community this year! I am in my 4th year of Anthropology and Political Science here at MAC! I have been commuting to Mac from Milton since my first year, and was apart of the SOCS community from my WW, so SOCS has a special place in my heart!

You will often find me talking about Morocco (I am Moroccan, yes!), MESA (I am one of the co-presidents for the Middle Eastern Students' Association so also visit me there), my cat Paris, or how much I love sushi and bubble tea! I can't wait to meet you all!

Manpreet Chopra

Vice-President Athletics

Hello, my name is Manpreet, I am your VP Athletics. I am in Kin and I haven't written my bio yet. DM my IG @manpreetchop and tell me to send in my bio!

Pershia Norouzian

Vice-President Promotions

Hi everyone! I'm Pershia and I'm so excited and humbled to be your VP Promotions this year!! I was born at McMaster Hospital so I've been a Hamiltonian my whole life. Back 4 years ago I knew Mac was the place for me considering it was the only university I applied to! I am now in my 4th year of Kinesiology and all the sentimental feelings are starting to surface. From the second I stepped foot on campus, SOCS was there for me and I knew I wanted to leave some lasting imprint on the Society for generations to come, as they did for me.

This year I'll be working closely with our other lovely execs to ensure super #lit promotional material is distributed for all you wonderful people to see and hopefully join in on our events! Stay tuned on our Facebook and Instagram for more information @socsbeaver, and remember to always stay SOCS-y ;)
